I had TAH,BSO,appendectomy 5/26.2 days after surgery started on Estraderm patch.Never really felt good after surgery so went to Internist 10/1.Was having really weird abd.discomfort.Thought about hernia, aneurysm, gall bladder problems.Had all gall bladder tests before surgery that were negative.Had horizontal incision and all discomfort was way above it,in area of gallbladder.Always have had discomfort in gallbladder area and have had numerous upper GI's in past 25 years.DIscomfort seemed to relate to hormone changes. Before periods,1st 4 months of pregnancy really bad.Anyway Internist thought maybe Irritable Bowel as all gallbladder tests over years were negative.Started me on RX and just to see leave off hormones.Stopped the patch 10/1.Every day I have felt better and better. No menopause symptoms at all.No hot flashes, sleep better. No bloating, just really feel good. Now the question can I live without hormones or is it really too soon to say that hormones made me feel worse?I might add, always had problem with hormones.Birth control pills made blood pressure go way up.Even hormones I tried to take several years ago for irregular bleeding made blood pressure go up.I am 49 years old, have breast cancer in family but my risk is low.No breast lumps,1st child at 18.I am only 5' and really can't shrink anymore.Bone density test year before TAH was excellent. No heart disease in family.I am using vaginal estrogen cream every couple of days as I had some dryness, some bleeding after sex.GYN said probably irritation.Recommendation as to what to take to prevent Osteoporosis? Can it be done with proper exercise, calcium? Can you really live to an old age,no problems without hormones? Thanks in advance for a recommendation.Susan P.S.Used other patches too.Felt worse on the lowest one,Vivelle.
