While it is true that in some cases, more surgery does cause more adhesions, this is not always true. I had two laparoscopies. The first surgeon only removed one adhesion on my small bowel, thinking that was causing my problem. He left the other adhesions around the sigmoid colon because he thought they would not bother me as they had been there awhile. When the pain returned two months after the first laparscopy we all thought that the first adhesion had returned. (same pain, same location) So another surgeon repeated the lap 6 months later and surprise! The first adhesion had not reformed, nor had new adhesions formed. This surgeon tackled the adhesions around the sigmoid colon. I still have pain :<( but it is appearing more and more that it may never had anything to do with the adhesions. I would undergo another laparoscopy just to see if these adhesions have returned to be able to say with certainty that more surgery does not *necessarily* cause more adhesions but from the experience I had I would say it is true.
