Hi Kate,

I have had painful ovulation from day one. It is called mittleschmertz. Some people have it and others do not. Mine was/has always been on my right side. (I have had everything removed, but I ovarian remnant syndrome, so I do ovulate still at times.) It starts off as a localized pinchy pain which continues until the egg pops out. This might actually last for a day or two. Then the pain spreads all on the right side of my pelvis. It is very tender to palpate. It is hard to do much when I am having this pain. I usually take 2 extra strength tylenol or some motrin to help ease the pain. From the time of ovulation to the time the pain subsides is about 4 hours. The reason it gets so painful after the egg is released is due to the fluid that is in the follicle. It is very irritating to the pelvic cavity.

Have they checked to see if you have endo, since you seem to have pain most of the time?

I hope you can find a way to be pain-free.
