ABO incompatabilityFrom: JHC (anonymous@obgyn.net)Thu, 28 Oct 1999 21:35:00 -0500 (CDT)
As I am typing this message, I wonder if I should be asking this of a Pediatric forum.... but here goes anyway. I am going to undergo IVF next month, and will be using donor eggs (again). My husband is blood type A-, the donor of the eggs is either A- or O-, and I am O+. The last time I did this, using the same donor (was not documented at the time of egg retrieval), my son was born with an ABO incompatability (positive Coombs). It did not present a big problem, other than having to be under phototherapy for about a week. I know that ABO incompatability is not as serious as a missed Rh incompatability, but is this something I should worry about? I am sure over the next few weeks I will find a multitude of things to worry about. Regards, JHC
