Mary Anne,

I know you probably mean formally documented as in at a doctor's office, but, I just had to share. I contracted herpes in about February 1991, had my first outbreak March 13, 1991. Had 5 outbreaks between then and January 1992, went onto a clinical study for ProAcyclovir (do not know whether I got the actual drug or a placebo), but have NEVER had an outbreak since. I have come close MAYBE 3 times, as in felt the tingling of the prodrome stage, but, I never FULLY broke out as in never developed the blisters. However, during this time, my hubby did manage to catch it from me (he was a virgin when he started dating me and has always been monogamous since as I have been monogamous since he and I started to date.) I only mention his status at the start of our dating since it is important to the fact that he MUST have caught it from me. This just goes to illustrate that it is ENTIRELY possible to catch herpes from someone that has herpes even if the blisters are not present on them.
