Breast cancer, lymph connectionFrom: anonymous@obgyn.netSun, 24 Oct 1999 20:43:12 -0500 (CDT)
Hi, My sister in law has been diagnosed with breast cancer---and has surgery scheduled. She is convinced she has lymph node involvement (the tests are to be done during the surgery, i think, so this is just her self diagnosis)-- she beleives this because she has had ongoing problems with swollen glands in her arm pits and throat for several months. I have 2 questions: 1--What is that web site that people always give for breast cancer information? I need it now, though I've never paid attention when it was given before. and 2)-- If the cancer has spread into the lymphatic system, what are the best treatments. The rumor mill (her family, people at the office, etc) have been saying that if it is in the lymphatic system, she's done for--- I am unconvinced. Any info on where I can find stats and research on this would be helpful. BTWm she is apparently healthy, 40, no children, hystorectomy about 4 years ago for endometriosis and fibroids, and has some ongoing endometriosis problem. She is so fit that her doctor said she didn't have enough abdominal fat to use in reconstructive surgery. Any sources for info would be helpful. Thanks Dee
