The radiologist may be able to give some idea. The question with the info provided is insufficient to draw any conclusions. I can only imagine your fears and concerns. A CT scan of the abdomen and pelvis should be done to fully evaluate these areas. This may be new but I have no way of knowing if it is an old finding, not noted due to lack of exams, obesity or other confounding factors. This can be benign, malignant or even a large degenerating fibroid (less likely in this age group). As a rule of thumb, masses are worked up and considered malignant until proven otherwise (better to be over-prepared than under-prepared. A full workup, bowel prep (colonic cleaning) and surgery either BY a gyn oncologist or WITH one on standby (available if needed) should be done for your wife's best benenfit.
