Hi... It sounds to me like you have always been a wonderful person with a good head on your shoulders. I would look for a woman doctor first of all. I would call different offices and speak to someone in the front office and explain your fears. You will have to choose by who sounds the most understanding of your situation. You may even want to ask if you could meet the doctor, prior to your visit. You should NEVER feel ashamed of not having insurance. I actually think that a doctor would prefer cash anyhow. Would you want to wait for money or get it immidiately? :) Once you take this first big step and get the exam over with, you can put all of your old fears and bad memories away forever.
