Very Heavy BleedingFrom: Anita (anonymous@obgyn.net)Thu, 14 Oct 1999 17:44:06 -0500 (CDT)
I am 49 years old and have been having some changes in my cycle for the past year (periods coming every 23-25 days, some mid cycle bleeding, some skipped periods). My gyn said these are premenopausal symptoms and nothing to worry about. In the past few months I have been experiencing extreme fatigue and nausea and only having a period every other month, with some light spotting in the "off" month and very heavy bleeding in the "on" month. This month I am bleeding very heavily for 3 days now with large clots and this is rather frightening. Is it normal to bleed so heavily since I'm only having a period every other month? I also have a very small uterine fibroid at the top of my uterus which was diagnosed on ultra sound. Could this be causing such heavy bleeding? Is there a chance the fibroid is really a cancerous tumor? Thanks for your help.
