I would recommend you ask your provider for specifics: 1. What is the bacteria you are being treated for ? 2. Is an antibiotic necessary? Can you take an oral antibiotic instead of a cream 3. What would be the consequences if you didn't take the antibiotic?

I suspect you might have something called "Bacterial Vaginosis". It is very common, and sometimes if women aren't having symptoms they don't need treatment. If you are pregnant, however, treatment is recommended, as this is linked with pelvic infections and miscarriage.

Usually vaginal cultures take less than a week to get results.
