That is why we at OBGYN.net have an entire section devoted to this topic, "Hysterectomy and Alternatives" http://www.obgyn.net/ah/ah.htm But for some women like myself Hysterectomy was a good choice to make and I have been fortunate to have had no side effects from having had one.
