Jenn,

When I used to have my periods I used to start them a few days before I actually finished the whole pack. I would take the last pills in that pack any way before starting the new one. To have an early period was normal for me, so it's possible that it might be normal for you as well. The placebos are just sugar pills, and if I remember correctly they help bring on the period. It's been so long since I have taken a pack of birth control pills normally that I'm not even sure anymore. If you are still unsure, I would recommend leaving a message with this question for your dr.
