oral contraceptivesFrom: Rachel (anonymous@obgyn.net)Thu, 30 Sep 1999 19:01:20 -0500 (CDT)
I have been taking oral contraceptives for some time now but have not been able to settle on the right one. I have recently tried Ortho-Tri-Cyclen, Ortho-Cyclen and Demulen 1/35. In the past, I tried many other brands as well including Ortho-Novum 1/35, Ortho-Novum 777 and possibily Demulen 1/50. There have been others in the past the names of which I do not recall. Even after numerous months on each of these, my period arrives in the middle of the third week of active pills. I also become very aggitated while I have my period and am taking active pills. I am trying to understand what criteria a physician can use in choosing a particular pill. I know that there are many different formulations but I have been unable to find any information that tells me what I need more, or less, of in a pill so that my period will not arrive until it is the correct time and maybe I won't get so aggitated. Is there a criteria to follow or is it just a matter of trial and error?
