Before my ligation my periods lasted for 7 days with the first day being heavy to medium. After the ligation my period would last 14 days with VERY HEAVY flow on the first two days. I was 35 years old. I started taking the orthocyclin birth control pill to try and reduce the bleeding -- it works but had I known this was a risk with the ligation I would not have done it.
