Menopause and Premphase therapyFrom: Patricia (anonymous@obgyn.net)Thu, 30 Sep 1999 10:18:10 -0500 (CDT)
I am 44 years old and I was prescribed Premphase and have just started the 2nd month of pills. I started having what appears to be a menstrual period 2 days ago with bleeding and cramping. I was diagnosed as "menopausal" after having blood testing done and having severe hot flashes, night sweats, moodiness, problems sleeping and other menopausal symptoms. I had been taking Tri-levlen for about 8 months previously to regulate periods, heavy bleeding and clotting. After stopping the Tri-levlen for 2 months (around July, 1999) the menopause symptoms started. I have had abdominal pain off and on for about 2 years. I have had 2 ultrasounds in the last 2 years that shows a fibroid tumor (not large) which I've had for at least 2 years. My question is "Is having a period now after having been diagnosed menopausal after blood testing and taking Premphase for over 1 month normal and nothing to worry about?" Thanks!
