Unable to locate left ovary during ultrasoundFrom: Sandy (anonymous@obgyn.net)Tue, 28 Sep 1999 20:51:09 -0500 (CDT)
I have been having lower left abdominal pain for the past 6 months or so, especially during orgasm. It sometimes radiates to the area just below my ribcage. The technician performing the ultrasound could not locate my left ovary internally or externally. My doctor says I have to have the ultrasound re-done and possibly a barium enema. How could having it re-done help and are there other alternatives to the pelvic ultrasound (which requires all that fluid intake prior to the exam)? Why would a barium enema determine the cause of pain during orgasm? They found evidence of a cyst on the right ovary and fluid which appears to be evidence of one bursting. But that doesn't explain why my pain is on the left side. Any advice/suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
