abdominal pain/lumpFrom: Maggie (anonymous@obgyn.net)Mon, 27 Sep 1999 22:37:17 -0500 (CDT)
Four years ago I had an appendectimy(spelling?) after 4 months of chronic appendicitis. Because of infection a large part of my bowels were removed and all of the bowel that absorbs bile. After the surgery I had severe chronic diahrea and the Dr put me on Questran Light 1x a day which helped me from not having the diahrea. He also put me on folic acid and prenatal vitamins because he was worried about vitamin loss. I have had a "heavy" feeling off and on over the years in my abdomen and on/off cramping feelings. Last month during a routine general exam my Dr felt a lump to the left of my naval. He said it was hard and he couldnt decide on where it exactly was in the uterus or in the intestines. He thought it was probably stool not being expelled completly and suggested to once a week go without the Questran. I tried it and while the lump went down somewhat it didnt totally go away. I am now having slightly more crampy/heavy feeling in the area and the area is tender if really poked. I was wondering could this be surgical adhesions in the intestinal area and if so is surgery the only treatment? Could it may be a fibroid or something gyn based?
