Laparoscopy

Hi, I am scheduled to have a laparoscopy done this Thursday, Sept. 30 to remove a cyst from my right ovary which is about 4cm and looks like a endometrium. I did not get a second opinion and now wish I would have. My Dr. was very cautious, trying B.C. pills first and doing two transvaginal Ultrasounds, along with records from my previous 2 U.S. The reason I'm doubtful is that I have no symptoms and the only reason it was ever detected was when I had anemia in 1996, my previous GYN thought I may have a cyst which is causing heavy bleeding every month, in turn causing the anemia. She did find one, but nothing to be concerned about. Over the last 3 years, I've had follow up U.S. and the last 2 have showed that it has increased in size. I'm scared about getting a laparoscopy and would like more info on it. Is it very bad and what is recovery time?? Is it normal to get a general anesthia?? I thought it would be done with a local.

Thank You, Julie
