These non-cancerous cysts typically are the size of a pencil eraser, although they can be either a little smaller or larger. (I have, however, seen them as large as marbles). They are usually white, kind of shiny, and nontender. If they are popped (which is usually hard to do) or opened with a needle or scalpel, they release a thick, waxy substance. This is accumulated sweat. It's hard to prevent these, and if treatment is necessary due to cosmetic reasons or irritation, they usually must be opened and the cyst wall pulled out.
