could thyroid be involved?From: anonymous@obgyn.netSun, 19 Sep 1999 14:27:25 -0500 (CDT)
Hi-- after I lost a baby due to prom in August of 1997, i began working out with a personal trainer to lose weight and get in shape for a second pregnancy. Frankly, between October of 1997 and August of 1999, i spent a minimum of 3 hours a week doing step aerobics, squats, lunges, weight lifting, etc, As I didn't see results i increased my workouts to 3-5 days a week. Duri I also gained roughly 35 pounds, and no---- it wasn't all muscle. Even when I stayed on my the weight loss program my dietician designed for me, with no variance from it for up to 45 days straight, i lost no weight. I have always had a wight problem, but I have never not lost weight on a serious program over a 45 day period--- maybe no weight loss in a week or two, but this is rediculouse. This program had worked for me before, so I was extremely dissapointed that it didn't seem to work again, even with the addition of exercise. Additionally, even though I have had temp rises and blue lines on the ovulation test kits every month for 2 years, no pregnancy..... So, I'm wondering--- even though I have fought my weight my whole life, usually sticking to a program allowed me to lose weight, even without exercise. Could the weight gain and failure to get pregnant be somehow related to a thyroid problem? I've never blamed my weight issues on anything like this before, but I'm just not "getting" it. Add it, now that I've gained weight, i'm not too excited to go to my Dr. and say---- hey, why am I not getting pregnant when everything I read says lose weight first, and every thing tested out well after the pregnanacy loss. Any insight would be welcome now, as I'm getting a bit bitter about the whole thing!!!!! LOL Dee
