There is a BIG knot on my wrist...Does anyone know what this is?

hello...a few months ago i noticed a hard knot on my wrist (left wrist)
and it is right there where the pulse is usually at! Well it seems bone
hard and not 'lumpy' and when i push down on it , the knot seems to go
down into my wrist , it feels small , a few minutes later i can feel
that is has came back up from my skin and it feels big again. my
husband thinks that i have strained my wrist and pulled something or
even it could be a cyst...is this knot common?
