I read last year about one doctor doing "myometrial core biopsies" to diagnose adenomyosis but have heard no more about it and know no one who knows anyone who does it or has seen it.

In my experience, it's diagnosed in the pathology lab. NOw that I've said that, there was an article last year about the "criteria" for diagnosing adenomyosis via sonography. I've do few times and been pleased with the accuracy but this is by no means "gold standard" diagnostic criteria.
