Re: unable to achieve orgasmnFrom: Barbara (anonymous@obgyn.net)Fri, 17 Sep 1999 17:32:57 -0500 (CDT)
Dear Ellen, This is a big problem for some women. I think some of us need manual stimulation by our partner or even by ourselves to achieve an orgasm. I have had many friends over the years who have complained of this and it was never for lack of desire or for lack of love of their partner. Sexual fulfilment is a strange thing and what works for some folks doesn't do anything for some of the others folks. Some women achieve orgasm by the penis rubbing against the inside of the vagina. Some by the rubbing of the outside, the clitoris. Have you read any books together about this? Are you able to talk freely with your husband about trying a new approach? For so many years it was a taboo topic to discuss this kind of thing but thank goodness we have gone beyond those days. I know it's not easy to bring up subjects like this but it is good that you have reached out for advice. Have you ever considered a sex therapist? I have never been to one myself so I can't tell you what they do or say but sometimes the physicians on this forum suggest going to one. We all know that a mutually rewarding sexual relationship is what all of us, husband and wife (or partner) hope for. Let's see if any of the folks on the forum can help you with this one.
