Ulcerated CervixFrom: Andrea (anonymous@obgyn.net)Fri, 17 Sep 1999 07:07:14 -0500 (CDT)
I am 32 (with no children) with a coil fitted . I have the usual pelvic pain before my period which is just about bearable, however, the pain becomes quite severe immediatlely after the period then approximately 4/6 days later the pain is very intense in both left and right sides (I presume in my ovaries), across my pelvic area and lower back, with a considerable amount of mucus which varies in consistency and colour, occasionally with a very small amount of blood present with a feeling of nausea (the nausea occurs during and after menstruation). I put this down to ovulation but it has become increasingly worse. My menstrual cycle has generally been approximately 21 days, however this is becoming increasingly shorter too - now down to 17/15 days !! I have just had a smear done and a swab (still awaiting results). Whilst this was being carried out the nurse said that my cervix was ulcerated (much to my horror) and sent me to the GP. The GP said that she thought it was just inflamed or an errosion, then admitted that she did not know what it was, and has referred me to a gynaecologist. All my previous smears have been normal ( these have been done very regularly, approximately every 2.5-3yrs). Any thoughts on the matter would be greatly appreciated.
