Tubal Ligation QuestionsFrom: ALH (anonymous@obgyn.net)Tue, 14 Sep 1999 12:44:43 -0500 (CDT)
I am a 33y/o G 2 P 3 (twins), no history of any medical probs., regular cycle (clockwork every 26 days), and it is believed I had a complete spon. abortion last month, which is really strange, because I had a tubal ligation done in 1990!!! Late period (1 week) heavy cramping and bleeding, large clots and tissues etc. My Doc wanted to see my operative & path. report from the procedure, so I did get copies (I live in a different state now), and there is no pathology report-I called the office of the Doc who did it, and she said it wasn't missing, he didn't send any specimins to the lab??? The procedure was a bipolar cautery laparoscopic tubal ligation with a "trocar," don't know what that is. The Op report said midsegment of tube was cauterized to the________________location (a word appears to be missing, not sure if it is of importance or not). My question is this: Is it possible I had been pregnant? If so, how did this happen? Has technology changed since 1990 making my procedure less effective? Due to my age at the time (24) would the Doc have done a "less" effective surgery? I am in quite a state of shock, and am not sure how to proceed. If another tubal is necessary, should I have to pay for it? Multi part question, but ANY info would be appreciated. ALH
