endo. danazol and painFrom: mitsu (anonymous@obgyn.net)Tue, 14 Sep 1999 12:23:14 -0500 (CDT)
I am in my late 20's. I was diagnised with endometriosis in April of this year. My consultant suggested I have had it for a long while, and that I probably have it around my colon as well as I have had many years of digestive problems. I have had 4 years of endo.symptoms, and I have 2 large ovarian cysts. At the time of diagnosis, I decided to try the Danazol treatment (a 9 month course). The first 5 months were great, no side effects and alot less pain in the abdominal area, although there was still some pain. However over the last 3 weeks I have been in extreme pain again, worst than I used to get before was diagnosed. I have abdominal cramping and pain around my reproductive organs. Neither pain killers not alternative medicine has provided any pain relief. My GP suggested I should increase the dose form 600mg to 800mg perday which I have done. However I am concerned. Is this type of physical response part of a normal healing pattern in the 6th month. Is it something I need to get checked out? Is is usual to need to increase the Danazol dose at this time due to pain? Does this pain usually go? I would be grateful for a response. Thanking you in advance
