I usually prescribe estrogen to my patients, after discussing the risks/benefits, the next day after surgery. Some women have no hot flushes or other symptoms after surgical menopause, while others have tremendous symptoms. Since estrogen clearly helps healing to vaginal tissue, I prefer to start my patients on hormone replacement therapy immediately after surgery.
