Is there any similarities between endometriosis and ovarian cysts? The reason I am asking is because several months ago (4) I was diagnosed with an ovarian cyst and I still have it. This is beginning to worry me as to why it is still "hanging around". A friend of mine(I know this isn't reliable medical advice that's why I'm asking you)said she was initially diagnosed with a cyst and later found out that it was endometriosis. What are the chances of that happening? Do they look the same on an ultrasound? What exactly is endometriosis? Any suggestions or questions I can ask my doctor would be helpful. Thank you for your advice.
