vericose veins surrounding the uterusFrom: Allison (anonymous@obgyn.net)Mon, 6 Sep 1999 21:40:11 -0500 (CDT)
I am 27 years old with 2 children, 8 and 4 years old. For the past 5 years i have had chronic pelvic pain. In the last three years I have has 3 laparoscopies; one resulting in losing my left ovary and fallopian tube. They have drained and taken off numerous large cysts(the size of grapefruits)from both ovaries. My latest surgery was just on Aug. 27, 1999. This time the doctor removed over 8 cysts and found many large vericose veins surrounding the uterus. The smallest of the veins was as thick as his thumb. He said he was dumbfounded and had never seen anything like this before. This is scaring me. He has told me the only way to get rid of these would be to have a hysterectomy. My husband and I would like to have more children. How common is this problem and what problems could arise from this if I do get pregnant again, if it is even possible? Any info would greatly be appreciated since my doctor has no answers for me.
