Surgery or NOT Need advice quickFrom: ddtmm (anonymous@obgyn.net)Sun, 1 Jun 1980 12:02:39 -0700
-I am really in need of advice. I have been in severe pain for three years now. I have had 1 laparoscopy and 2 laparotomys which revealed severe endometriosis and adhesions. The first surgery done in 96 was the laparoscopy, 9 months later I went in for a TAH/BSO but for some reason the doctor decided to leave my ovarys I was in so much pain not only the same pain I was haveing befor the surgery but now the pain that comes with surgery.I chose to go to another doctor and 8 months later I had my third surgery a BSO but this doctor had to dissect the mass of adhesions and endometriosis to get to the ovarys (over 4 hours). To make along story short I ended up back in the hospital 18 hours after being released for a kinked ureter, having a nephrostomy tube placed through my back into my kidney and 2 infections later my ordeal was finley over but the pain was still there. So I was sent to a specialist which in my end of the country was an oncoloigist. This Dr told me there was nothing more that could be done for me but that I should see a psychotherapist and learn to get on with my life.Needless to say I went to another doctor (oncoligist) and he frist wanted me to try a pain clinic which I have now for the past 6 months. I just had a spinal epidiral never block done and still the pain is so bad I cant stand to walk, sit or lay down most of the time. He has decided to do another laparscopy to see what is causing this pain. I am afride that I will end up with more problems like before or even worse. This is where I need your advice. I am in hopes that the surgery will help but was told by my primary care doctor that surgery is not in my best interest. WHO do I beleive?? Please any advice would be great. The surgery date is set in less than 4 weeks. Denise
