endometrial atypia hyperplasiaFrom: mamaw_b (anonymous@obgyn.net)Mon, 30 Aug 1999 15:54:52 -0500 (CDT)
I am 52, have been taking Prephase for 10 months and I am still having regular periods. I have been having a lot of cramping and quite often groin pain when trying to walk. After having an ultrasound and endometrial biopsy, I have been diagnosed with atypia hyperplasia. My doctor wants me to have a hysterectomy. I have had colon and stomach problems for several years and will be having additional tests, including a test of my bladder prior to the surgery. My doctor wants to do a D & C if for some reason the surgery cannot be scheduled within the next 90 days. How serious is this condition and is there any danger that this could become cancerous in that short period of time? After you digest what your doctor tells you, all of these questions arise that you wish you had asked. My next appointment is in 3 weeks and the other tests will have been completed by then. I have been having pain, more a constant burning, in the lower left side and if this is not my colon, can it be my ovaries even if they appeared OK on the ultrasound? Thanks for your help.
