Re: cervical dysplasia

Dorothy,

I'm not a doctor or a medical professional. I am 28 and was diagnosed with mild to moderate dysplasia (CIN I/II) in April of this year. I had a colposcopy done in May which detected CIN III. Consequently, a cryo procedure (freezing of the cervix) was not an option and I had a LEEP done in June (actual removal of the portion of the cervix which had the cells). My doctor informed me that I should have no problem getting pregnant or having healthy pregnancies/deliveries. He did tell me that there was only a certain number of times that a LEEP could be done (in the off chance this stuff comes back) before having to remove the cervix completely. However,he told me that was an extreme case and most often women don't have any further episodes with dysplasia. That's why they watch it so carefully. I didn't ask him about getting pregnant before treatment because we aren't in that big of a hurry and because my cells went from normal to CIN III in a period of one year, but I have read articles where women were being treated for dysplasia during their pregnancy. You might want to research this if you are considering it. Take care and good luck! So far so good here...
