loss of libido

i have a few comments to make on this subject but wish to point out that i am not a professional. just a 34 year-old single mom (7-year-old boy), been thru a divorce and study midwifery.

merry, you said your child was 9 months old? if you are still breastfeeding that could easily explain your lack of desire for sex. both from a hormonal and emotional point of view. many women loses some libido whle breastfeeding. for myself i felt this was an a result of being aworking mom and while breastfeeding there were times when breastfeeding was simply enough physical contact for me. also, after my sons birth was when my marital problems began (long story there) and as i lost respect for my husband i lost interest in actually making love to him and simply went thru the motions.

mark, i believe your wife's comment that having another baby would "give HER something in the marriage" (not sure i have those words literally correct) may be very telling as to what the problem is. does your wife work outside the home? does she have activities outside the home? i wonder if she feels undervalued by you, society, other women, etc...? was there an interest that she gave up after your marriage or the birth of your children?

something about this makes me wonder if that the problem is an emotional rather than hormonal one. but DO get the hormonal tests done!! i am glad you have decided to get some counseling. unfortunately if BOTH of you are working on this problem it wont get resolved. you may be going to counseling but not really working at it, know what i mean?

that is all for now. good luck to you. i know that a satisgying physical relationship is important to the health of a marriage.....
