endometrium stripFrom: anonymous@obgyn.netMon, 16 Aug 1999 12:55:39 -0500 (CDT)
I have been having cramps and pelvic pain for a few years and assumed it was just part of going through menopause. My periods have always been long with heavy bleeding and clotting. My doctor tested me last fall and found I was indeed going through menopause. I have been on Premphase for about 9 months. I recently had a Pap smear which was normal, but because of continued pain, I also had an pelvic ultrasound. The ultrasound showed a striped endometrium with some possible calcification, ovaries were fine. I am waiting for the results of a biopsy. My doctor said that if it is benign, it can be treated with medication. My question is, is this a common occurrance and if so what are the chances that it might not be benign and what is the treatment for this? I hope I haven't asked too much, trying not to worry. Thanks.
