Pitressin vs. tourniquet for fibroid surgery

Perhaps a doctor who is knowledgeable about this can answer this, or anyone else who knows. I have been told that during a myomectomy surgery, some doctors use Pitressin to cut off the blood supply and some use a tourniquet. I'd really like to know the pros and cons of each method. Apparently the tourniquet method can cause blood clots to form, which can travel to other organs and result in death. I'd really appreciate some input on this. Thanks very much.
