Hi Nicole,

Looks like you and I are in the same boat! My daughter is 17 mos and still nurses like a wee babe. I informed my doc that I will be coming back for fertility meds next month and he advised me to wean my daughter. He did not have a good reason why, so I told him I will not. It would have made a difference had he said that clomid causes this specific problem or that one, but he did not and all my research has not provided me with a reason to stop breastfeeding. I understand the nutritional concerns and the toll it can have on mom's body but it is more important for me to provide the best nourishment for my baby as long as she wants it and I have a supply. It is also very important for me to try and give her a sibling close to her age - if possible. Our son is 12 years old and that is just too great an age difference to repeat. Besides, I am going on 36, have PCOS, and have lost 3 babies, so I know I don't have a lot of time to be wasting.

The only reason I can think of to ovulate and not have a subsequent period is if you get pregnant but hopefully the docs will clarify that if I am wrong.

I have had one period (061399) since my baby was born and it fell 2 years to the day after my last period right before getting pregnant with her. So my first postpartum period took 15 mos to arrive. I was so excited! I thought I was getting back into the swing of things again but now I am on day 51 or so of this *cycle*. I know I am not pregnant because I chart my temps and they are all still low. I have not ovulated and predict that I will need provera again before I begin clomid.

Ask your doc about your options. Check into fertility meds to get you ovulating again. If you would like to write off the forum, please feel free to!

Good luck!
