Adhesions from Dalkon Shield Complications

I am a 46 year old white female, in generally good health. In 1976, I had surgery to removed an embedded Dalkon Shield. I was told that adhesions were present, resulting from the infection caused by the situation (not from the surgery itself). However, no follow-up treatment for the adhesions was recommended. Therefore, they have never been treated. Is it possible that these adhesions have continued to grow/spread? In the years since, I have experienced sensations, ranging from twinges to pain, in various parts of my body. These incidents seemed unrelated. Is it possible that the adhesions have "glued" my internal organs together causing these unusual symptoms? If so, what type of doctor should I see to further investigate?
