Re: TUBAL LIGATION ADVERSE EFFECTS...pms, heavy cramp & bleeding, menopuase.From: Tracy (anonymous@obgyn.net)Mon, 2 Aug 1999 16:23:11 -0500 (CDT)
August 2, 1999 I had a tubal ligation approx. 3 years ago immediately after having my 3rd child via a c-section. I was advised by my doctor as well as my family that it would be best if I had the procedure because of my medical history as well as my age (36 years old). I was never given detailed information, references about the procedure; or told of organizations I could get in touch with. The first few months emotionally it somewhat took its toll on me because it was so final that I would no longer be able to have children, although I knew I didn't want anymore. Physically, for the most part my monthly cycles where regular (every 30 days) with the exception of heavier bleeding and more days. It went from 5 days to up to as long as 8 days. My PMS is absolutely unbearable. I become so enraged at times for no apparent reason. It has really gotten out of control. Almost like Dr. Jeckle/Mr. Hyde. I had also noticed a change in my libido. I had no desire for intimacy and when my husband would cuddle and caress me I wouldn't become aroused or anything. Which of course caused alot of stress between the two of us. For the most part everything is back to normal. The only problem I have now is after intercourse I bleed. I'm not hemeraging, but I have to wear a pad for the rest of the day. What's even more weird is that this happens intermittently. I can go for months and not have this problem. Then suddenly the problem would pop up again (like now). I have gone to my obgyn, a female mind you; and they just blow me and my situation off. They do the routine check-up (pap smear). The results are always negative. I'm at a loss. I have no idea what to do or what to ask. I've very pleased with my physician up to this point. I know this is not normal, or are there cases out there with this situation after having a tubal ligation? If you have any information for me or could tell me what steps I should take to get some answers please E-mail me at MooreTrav@aol.com. Thanks. Tracy
