Dear Ann, No, you couldn't have ovulated as soon as your menstruation over. The sperm will die after 72 hours in the uterus. So, you don't have to use any extra protection for the rest of the month. Speaking about extra protection, I'm strongly against the withdrawal method, because no man can actually control his ejaculation. When a man realizes that he'd like to ejaculate, it will be too late to withdraw the penis, because the early emission of the sperm has occured and unfortunately, it is sufficient enough to fertilize the ovum. So, next time, use condoms if you'd like an extra protection.
