laser ablation vs hysterectomy adviceFrom: Alicia (anonymous@obgyn.net)Thu, 29 Jul 1999 13:50:36 -0500 (CDT)
I am a 26 y/o female with symptomatic endometriosis x 8 yrs. I had an exploratory lap in 1992 which revealed stage III endometriosis and was subsequently put on lupron for 7 months. I got pregnant about 6 months later and was pain free for about 2 years. I began to follow up with my gyns and had another exploratory lap in 1998 after which I was placed on zoladex implants. The last zoladex shot in this series was given in Dec1998. In Mar 1999 I reported to tje ER with disabling pain and had abd x-rays, IVP, 2 u/s and an abd ct which revealed endometriosis, adenomyosis ( the uterus was the size of 12 gestation), there was fluid in the cul de sac, the left ovary had a 9cm cyst, the left ureter was at least partially obstructed and deviated medially and there are growths on the left kidney and spleen. I am trying to find out what would be the best course of action to resolve this. An important point to note is that I also have a hx of thyroid Ca and I am very concerned that these growths may be cancerous also. I would appreciate any advice or information you have to give. Thank you for your time.
