Chronic cervicitis

I have read the archives on chronic cervicitis. Is chronic cervicitis curable? I was told I had it probably 4 years ago. I suspect I have had it longer, although I never had an abnormal pap prior to 4 years ago and only once (in '87) did someone mention cervical bleeding upon doing a pap (they tested me for clamydia-negative). I have been given an antiobiotic and a cream, had 2 colposcopies and 1 biopsy. One of the reports stated that something in the results (mild dysplasia?)was consistent with HPV, but I was never told for sure I have HPV. I recently changed doctors, she gave me a round of 2 antiobiotics that she said would "kill any bacteria" and although she didn't make promises, I don't know that I am over it. I have a lot of discharge, usually yellowish or greenish, but not always. I do wear tampons, but maybe I should stop. I have been on the pill since I was 17 (now 38) and have no children and don't plan to. Am I doomed to having chronic cervicitis and everything that goes with it (discharge, abnormal paps and possibly HPV) until I develop cervical cancer at some point in my life? My doctor said she didn't need to see me after my round of antiobiotics and I haven't gotten the results from my latest pap (usually have so much discharge, they have trouble getting a good slide). I have been told to return in 6 months. Can somebody give me some advice on where I stand? Thank you.
