If you are at low risks for such conditions, then the IUD does not represent a significant health risk for you. The loop went out of common use prior to my entrance into clinical practice, so I am unaware of how long it is approved for continuous use, but the Paraguard is good for 10 years. I will try to find out for you from some older collegues.
