Want to try endo ablation but told I couldn'tFrom: Mari (anonymous@obgyn.net)Mon, 28 Jun 1999 13:57:15 -0500 (CDT)
Hi, Please help I have very heavy, long periods (for the past 6 months) Biopsy, sonogram--all okay except sonogram revealed a fibroid growing in the uterine muscle that is pushing against endo wall and thus, maybe causing all of the heavy bleeding. I'm currently on a low dose birth control pill, but the Heavy periods have not dimished --I only have an Idea now when it may occur. Even on the pill I will bleed a week before and/or week after normal. I'm fed up with the surprise heavy periods and want to get on with my life but without having a hysterectomy (unless that is my absolute only solution) or take BC pills. I had a tubal ligation 4 years ago so starting a family is not an issue. I would like to be done with my period (or drastically less of it), avoid major surgery I've just been told that I am not a good candidate for endometrial ablation procedure due to the fibroid pushing against the endo wall (I was told it was in the uterine muscle) and that I am anemic. Lupron for 2 months is being prescribed while I must increase my iron intake before a suggested myomectomy is done. I have yet to get the 1st shot maybe in a week or two. How bad is this temporary menopause going to be? Can I still have the ablation done after the myomectomy? Referrals to Drs. in the Pittsburg, PA or Cleveland OH areas? I have to decide upon myomectomy or hysterectomy before Sept.according to my DR. --my gut feeling is to get another opinion because hysters are done here so frequently and I want to have a good chance with other options--the ablation procedure wasn't high on his list and he avoided really discussing it w/ me as if he had his mind made up. Sorry this is so long but this is also my 1st internet communication --
