Risks with Laparoscopy?

Hello. I am 34 years old. I was recently diagnosed with a right ovarian cyst which is about 9cm. Two years previous to this I lost my left fallopian tube due to a tubal cyst. My doctor noted massive scarring/adhesions involving the entire reproductive tract and bowels. As a child, I had a ruptured appendix which turned into peritonitis which required furhter surgery. My doctor wants to use laparoscopy to surgically treat this cyst. Because of my previous abdominal surgeries (this will be my fourth), Is there any increased risk with using laparoscopy? Would a laperotomy have less risk involved? - Thank you. D.L.C
