Your symptoms sound much like mine. It is possible the reason you didn't burn during the first year is it took some time to become sensitive (or allergic if that term is right) to the semen.

I don't know why your gyn. dismissed this. You may want to get another opinion.

How do you know for sure? Well I think that the fact that sex w/ a condom doesn't cause discomfort for you, but sex w/o a condom does is very good evidence that the semen, for whatever reason, is irritating to your vaginal tissues.

By cleaning, what I actually mean is (this will be a bit graphic....sorry....) I remove as much of the semen as I can by "pushing it out" (bearing down) and then I use my finger to scoop the rest out. It takes just a couple minutes. If I do this within 5 minutes after sex I have no irritation. I guess douching would get the job done too, probably better, but I've heard that it is generally not a good idea to douche unless instructed by a doctor. I find my "cleaning" method works perfectly well.

Feel free to e-mail me directly if you'd like. I hope this is able to help you. I know how frustrating this problem is.

>>Thanks for responding. I do not burn when we use condoms. I also did not burn the first year, it just started one day. I mentioned a sensitivity or allergy to semen to my gyn and she dismissed it. How do you find out for sure? Is there a medical term for it? Any treatment? By cleaning, do you mean douching? I would appreciate any information you might have. You're the first person in over 4 years to acknowledge it. Thanks again!
