Severe Water RetentionFrom: Sylvia (anonymous@obgyn.net)Wed, 26 May 1999 17:03:17 -0500 (CDT)
I am currently on Lo/ovral and am experiencing severe bouts of water retention on a more than periodic basis. I can honestly say that I've put on 7-12 pounds of water overnight, if not during the day that does not flush when I drink more water. If anything, the retention continues to soar until my hands and feet sting, and does not let up for two days or more at a time (and this isn't just before my period either). I have watched my salt intake, as well as my caffeine intake, but still suffer uncomfortable weight gain and severe mood swings due to this extra water. In fact, I was on another pill prior, Loestrin, to this one and put on 20 pounds in less than 3 months - and I did not start eating more or exercising less. This was 1.5 years ago (the weight gain) and I still can't get rid of the weight. What do you suggest? Another pill change? Or is there more to my problem than meets the eye? Thank you.
