It takes some time for the remaining ovary to adjust to doing the work of two. (Mind you, this comes from my own personal experience not medical school). If you are having bothersome symptoms such as hot flashes, night sweats, moodiness and the like you can call your OB/GYN and he/she will probably prescribe a 3 month (or so) course of estrogen replacement. In my case that did the trick nicely and after the 3 months I was able to discontinue using the estrogen patch and now a year later I have no return of symptoms. Good luck!
