Well the jury is still out on this one..........But, if your physician wants you to have one and it is really no big deal, ask him or her to explain their feelings on this and see if you can come to an aggreement on your combined beliefs and go from there.

I had a TAH 13 years ago and I go for a pelvic exam but do not have a Pap, BUT, and remember the word But.......each physician is entitled to his/her belief on this one and so is the patient. So, talk it over with Your physician/medical caregiver and ask a few questions and make up your own mind.

Some Medical Care Givers believe that they can pick up samples from around the area where the cervix was and find this helpful to them. So again, this is an aarea open for discussion between you and the person doing the exam.
