adhesionsFrom: Peggy (anonymous@obgyn.net)Sat, 22 May 1999 08:46:51 -0500 (CDT)
I had a lavh in april of 98. My left ovary was attached to the bowel so my gyn removed the ovary.Due to the fact that I had been complaing of alot of pain on the left side especially during ovulation.1o days after the hysterectomy I ended up back in the hospital with an infection.I asked if this was something that was caused by anything that I had done and my Dr. told me no that he had missed a stitch during surgery causing me to have a hematoma .I was feeling pretty good for about 8 weeks and then I started having alot of pain on the left side again. In June I saw the senior partner of the practice for a second opinion and he said that it sounded like I had adhesions but did not want to speculate and sent me for a C T scan and a barium both of which came back showing nothing. This Dr. was going on a prolonged vacation so he told me that my regular gyn would be there to take care of things. After about 4 weeks I called my gyn and told him that the pain was getting really bad so he prescribed a pain medication for me and asked me to give it another month to see haw the pain progressed.I waited about 2 weeks and called hom back to tell him that the medicaton was not helping me.Only tp find out that my gyn had left the practice I was with.I figured that since I was under his care that I should follow him into the new practice he had gone with. But after being pushed off on many different Drs. I decide to call the senior partner of the practice I was with in the beginning. This was the beginning of Oct. He recommended that I have a laporoscopy done and was scheduled in 3 weeks. When he did the lap. he discovered that I had a massive amount of adhesions throughout the lower abdomin with the bowel being attached the abdominal wall on both the left and right side and that there was a big clump of adhesions on the left side.Agian I was feeling pretty good for about 8 weeks and then I started having pain on the left side. The Dr. tried steroid injections at the pain trigger site but this did not help.I just had another Lap. on april 29 and again the Dr. found a good amount of adhesons on the left side. He used an adhesion barrier this time (interceed) in hopes that this will help me.Since I have had the surgery I have been running a low grade temp. My Dr. sent me for an ultrasound and the radiologist said that there was a small collection of fluid at the tip of the vagina.and that I had a small cyst in the right ovary. Is this normal? I have never heard of a cyst being inside the ovary.Unfortunattly my Dr. is on vacation this week so I have not had a chance to speak with him.I did however see the nurse practioner and she told me that she was confused at what the ultrsound report read. She put me on an antibiotic(cipro) I asked her what the conclusion of the ultrasound was whether I had an infection or not and she told me that it was like grasping at straws that I may have a U T I and she had me do a clean catch sample. Is the fluid at the tip of the vagina anything to worry about? Any Dr. that could answer this I would appreciate it.Thanks
