I also have one ovary remaining which is driving me absolutley crazy(something is not right with this thing). My breasts hurt, self breast exams just leave me paranoid. No doc even suggests a mammo. just says fibrocystic and sends me on my way. I begged my doc to take both ovaries when I had my hyst., but the whole menopause thing stopped him from doing so. I feel I have just as many problems now if not more since he left it in, only no bleeding. I have a very strong Maternal Family History of both cancers as well, and still I get the same run-around. Ok, no more yapping...to the point! If this is what you wish to do,and it will make you feel better, I say go for it. You know your body like nobody else. They cant possibly know what its like, how it feels, only you can. Dont forget, there are natural options and diets, etc. that you can use instead of HRT. I hope this all works out well for you. Maybe someday I will find a doctor who is not so pig-headed as well.
